Curators Online Meeting
To open the event, we will have a meeting between producers and curators from representative festivals of Butoh from Europe, Asia and America. for this meeting we will have 3 main questions: 1. Presentation of the context of productions in each event; 2. Actions in this context; 3. Possible networking actions between festivals, events and research. Opening Vernissage - Visual Arts Exhibition
Presentation of photographic works, drawings, paintings, cinema and video art selected in our 2022 open call process. Among the attractions some dance performances will also be realized.

Improvisation game. Tarot Butoh dance. Oracle. Electroacoustic music. Live painting. Performances. Three dancers on the stage. A tarologist opens the Tarot for audience.
"Do you have some question?" According to the letters drawn a musician will compose ambiences, soundscapes and dramaturgy in electroacoustic constructions. Parallel to these performances a plastic artist will synthesize all the composition of the letters, dance and electroacoustic sounds in paintings of this oracle.

Dancers Installation
An installation of 10 dancers selected in our open call 2022. In this session they will present fragments from their dances and performances installed in an exhibition format. The public will be invited to walk among the dancers and enjoy such performances according to their interests. The performance focuses on presenting a first landscape of selected dancers who will work together throughout the festival developing their techniques, dances in different solo and collective performances.

TRACE
The dancer and choreographer Elisabeth Orlowsky has been moving through the city in search of traces in recent years. Found seemingly insignificant things in order to discover something bizarre, disturbing or poetic in them. In three scenes, random moments and images are translated into a dance language that creates a pulsating space with the help of the driving force of live music.

RED MOON
A ritual performance to celebrate feminine energies, where the dancer digs in the subconscious to return archetypal images to the audience. An oneiric and hypnotic representation of reality, deformed, altering the essential elements of the figure, completely free from any reference to reality itself. In this way, referring to a different reality, “subtle worlds”, symbolic worlds, of the unknown, of the removed, of the shadow.

Held on the street, the audience will receive headphones from where they will make a sound journey mixed in reality by the ambient sounds. Local, real, fictional stories of the dancers and places will make the composition in patchwork for the dance of the festival's resident artists. An installation in different stations will be tracked in this performance journey.

ECATE - Eights steps into eternity
When a loved one crosses life's threshold, the whole world seems new. How is it possible to turn an experience of mourning into a dance? "Ecate" is a dance with which Damiano Fina remembers his mother Maria Novella, who passed away prematurely in 2021. The recording of the original performance took place at the spaces of Villa Godi Malinverni, a Palladian project from 1542. In evoking memories of the close bond connecting him with his mother, Damiano Fina wore her wedding dress.

黑蕨 BLACK FERN - The vitality from ancient times, a light booming in the dark
Ferns have appeared on the earth as early as 400 million years ago. They are the most primitive group of vascular plants. They can also grow and bloom in a humid and harsh environment. Under the difficult international situation and political environment, Taiwan still tenaciously conveys the value of democracy and freedom Taiwan is well known as “Kingdom of Ferns”, with more than 650 different types of ferns, 60 of which are endemic, and more than 200 rare. Unique culture and art have been nurtured in such a place with outstanding people. I believe it can bring contemporary Butoh even more different vision and excitement.

RULES TO LIVE BY
The idea for Rules to Live By came in 2018 after the death of one of Suzi’s teenage idols, Mark E. Smith of the band The Fall, whose collaboration with Michael Clark led her to train as a dancer. Beginning as a spontaneous tribute dance in front of 150 people on the night of his death, it has grown into a requiem for heroism, hedonism, rebirth, with dark disturbing humour. A celebration of transformation, a bid to be unforgotten, a dance of rules, constriction, sugar highs and lows- and the consequences of human hedonism, Rules To Live By is a rebellious aspiration to a hero’s punk anarchy.

The human being is the sum of its experiences. And yet, everyone has an innate core that forms the true and pure self. This core is stored in every cell of the body and dates back up to the birth of the universe. On our karmic journey we seek to clear layer for layer of every birth and death in order to reveal this first sight of existence. ID(22) is the sequel to ID from 2004. The piece holds the mirror up to the soul and looks behind it for that Self that survived for billions of years.
